Naturopathic Doctors (N.D.s) are primary care physicians trained in both conventional and alternative medicines with 4 years of an undergraduate degree followed by an intensive 4 year postgraduate naturopathic medicine program which includes 1 year or 1,200 hours of clinical internship.
ND’s AND MD’s
The main difference between ND’s and Medical Doctors (MD’s) lies in the naturopathic philosophy to ‘treat the root cause of illness’ and focus on prevention rather than suppressing disease symptoms. In addition, naturopathic medicine believes that each individual is unique and therefore, your treatment plan should be tailored to your unique health concerns.
You don’t have to choose between having a medical doctor or naturopathic doctor, we encourage you to maintain your relationship with your medical doctor and we will work together to provide you with the best medical care.
